Product Efficacy Claims
Anti-ageing
Anti-ageing
Visible skins of skin ageing include sagging (elasticity), wrinkles (rhytids), erythema (redness), dyspigmentation (brown discolorations), solar elastosis (yellowing) and poor texture. Many products are designed and developed to help minimise these types of skin ageing consequences.
Anti-aging creams, many containing free radicals, anti-oxidants or AHAs are predominantly moisturiser based cosmeceutical skin care products marketed with the assurance of making the consumers skin look younger.
Do you have an “anti-ageing” product that you believe will reduce visible wrinkles, expression lines, blemishes, pigmentation changes, discolourations and/or other environmentally (sun) related conditions of the skin?
Let Santi help you to ensure that the claims made regarding your product can be supported.
We utilise state of the art imaging systems such as Cortex DermaLab and Cortex Ultrasound to enable us to analyse changes in volume, perform skin tone comparisons, identify and analyses wrinkles, spots and acne, perform 3D model rendering for analysis and quantify changes.
Through discussion and consultation, we can develop a study protocol totally suited to your individual needs and requirements. Please contact us for further information.
Moisturisation
Moisturisers affect the appearance of skin by doing three things — fighting dryness, balancing skin tone and improving skin texture. Moisturising products achieve these goals by helping the skin absorb water and by filling in the spaces between skin cells to replace lost moisture
Moisturisers can claim to make skin look younger, healthier, brighter and more even. They might promise to minimize pores or to firm, tighten and tone skin. Some even claim to fight wrinkles or reduce sun damage. We can help substantiate moisturising claims such as:
24h Replenishing Moisturiser
Hydration
Moisturisation
Revitalise and nourish the skin
All of our Moisturisation studies are performed in environmentally controlled conditions – 45% humidity and 20°C, in a panel consisting of approximately 20 volunteers. They are performed for a specified time period e.g. 12h, 24h or 48h depending on the requirements of the Sponsor.
Typically, we would evaluate the moisturising potential of products (with an untreated control site) over the specified time period with instrumentation measurements taken at predetermined time points as follows:
A single-centre, within subject comparison study would be performed in a population of 20 female subjects with very dry skin. Recruited subjects will be asked to perform a wash-out phase 3 days prior to study commencement. They will be asked not to apply any moisturisers or use moisturising products on the legs during this wash-out phase.
Baseline (0h) Corneometer® measurements will be taken on sites demarcated on the lower legs. Test Material(s) will then be applied to the lower leg by test personnel. There will be one untreated control site. Subjects will have further Corneometer measurements taken at pre-determined assessment times (30 min, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12h… etc.) post treatment.
The primary endpoints for analyses are the percentage change from pre-treatment to each of the post-treatment time points for Corneometer® measurements for each of the test materials. To calculate the percentage change for the Corneometer, the mean of the measurements at each time point will be used.
We can offer bespoke study design and protocols to support claims or match any specific marketing requirements.
